1. About these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and AutoFloat ("AutoFloat," "we," "us"). They apply when you create an account, start a membership or use AutoFloat to pay a bill. Please read them carefully, including section 18, which explains how disputes are resolved.
2. Who can use AutoFloat
- You are at least 18 years old and a US resident living in a state where AutoFloat is available.
- You own or regularly drive a registered vehicle and have active auto insurance in your name.
- You have a US checking account in your name that can be debited by ACH.
- You can create only one account, and the information you give us must be true and current.
3. Verification
To open and keep an account, you must give us your legal name, date of birth, residential address and Social Security number, as federal law requires us to verify the identity of every customer. You agree that we and our service providers may verify your identity (including an ID document and selfie check), check your name against government sanctions lists, your vehicle identification number, your insurance coverage and your bank account, including the account owner's name and balance. We may ask for more information at any time and may decline, pause or close an account we cannot verify.
4. Membership
Plus costs $49.99 a month and covers up to 2 bills and up to $500 in bills each calendar month. Pro costs $79.99 a month and covers up to 3 bills and up to $1,000 a month. Your first month is charged when you finish signing up, after you authorize the monthly debit. Your membership renews monthly on the same date and is charged to your linked bank account until you cancel. You can change plans or cancel at any time in Settings. Membership fees are not refunded for partial months, except where required by law. Referral credits are applied to future membership charges and have no cash value.
5. Add-on products
You may add Spending insights, Rent reporting, Credit monitoring or Identity protection to your membership. Each add-on is billed monthly at the price shown when you add it, together with your membership, until you remove it or your membership ends. Rent reporting, credit monitoring and identity protection are provided with partners, and you authorize us to share the information each partner needs (including your SSN for credit monitoring and identity protection). By turning on rent reporting you agree that your rent payments, including late or missed rent, may be reported to the credit bureaus. Add-ons don't change your bill limits or repayment terms.
6. Submitting bills
You may submit bills owed by you to a third-party biller in one of the categories we support. You confirm that each bill is genuine, that the amount and biller details are accurate, and that you have not already paid it. We review every bill and may approve or decline it at our discretion, for example if we cannot verify the biller, the bill exceeds your remaining limit, or it is due too soon to pay on time. Approval of one bill does not guarantee approval of future bills.
7. How Pay in 2 works
When we approve a bill, we debit half of the bill amount from your linked account. Once that payment clears, we pay the biller the full amount, and the other half is debited 14 days after approval.
After 6 months of on-time payments with nothing past due, your bills move to $0 upfront: we pay the biller first, then debit half 7 days after payment and half 14 days after payment.
The total you repay always equals the bill amount. We do not charge interest, late fees or installment fees. Every payment date and amount is shown before you confirm a bill, and you may pay any installment early at no cost.
8. Paying your biller
We send payment directly to the biller by bank transfer, bill-pay service or check, and show the confirmation in your dashboard. We aim to pay before your due date when you submit at least 3 business days in advance, but we are not responsible for a biller's own processing times, late fees caused by information you provided incorrectly, or a biller's refusal to accept payment. If a biller returns or refuses a payment, we will contact you and refund or reapply the amount.
9. Canceling a bill
You may cancel a bill until we have paid the biller. If you cancel, or if we cannot complete payment, we return any amount you paid upfront for that bill to your linked account.
10. Missed payments
If a scheduled debit is returned or declined, your account is suspended and you cannot submit new bills until the missed amount is paid. We will retry the debit once after 3 days, and you can pay from your dashboard at any time.
A missed payment does not lower your monthly limit. It returns you to half upfront, restarting the 6-month period.
If an amount remains unpaid, we will send reminders and a final notice. Amounts unpaid 60 days after they are due may be written off internally but remain owed. We never charge late fees.
11. More time on a payment
At least one day before a scheduled payment, you may ask to move it 7 or 14 days, or to split it into two payments over 14 days. The total you owe doesn't change and there is no fee. Your first request in any 180-day period is approved automatically; we review later requests and may decline them. An approved request is not a missed payment. By submitting a request you authorize the new debit dates and amounts shown to you.
13. Electronic communications
You agree to receive these Terms, disclosures, notices, statements and other communications electronically, by email, text message or in the app. You can withdraw this consent by closing your account. You can choose which reminders you receive by email or text in Settings, but we will always send messages required by law or about payments on your account. Message and data rates may apply to texts; reply STOP to stop texts.
14. Acceptable use
- Do not submit bills that are fake, altered, already paid, or owed by someone else without their permission.
- Do not use AutoFloat for illegal purposes, gambling, or to pay other credit products or debts owed to AutoFloat.
- Do not open multiple accounts, use someone else's identity or bank account, or try to get around limits or suspensions.
- Do not interfere with, scrape, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to AutoFloat.
15. Suspension and closing your account
You can close your account at any time once nothing is owed. We may suspend or close your account if we suspect fraud, cannot verify your information, you break these Terms, or we are required to by law. Amounts you owe remain due under their original schedule if your account is closed.
16. Disclaimers
AutoFloat is provided "as is." To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties, and we do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. AutoFloat is not a bank and does not hold deposits.
17. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, AutoFloat is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the membership fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under law that cannot be waived.
18. Resolving disputes
If you have a concern, please contact complaints@autofloat.co first; most issues are resolved quickly. If we cannot resolve a dispute within 60 days, you and AutoFloat agree to resolve it by binding individual arbitration administered under consumer arbitration rules, rather than in court, except that either party may bring a claim in small claims court. You may opt out of arbitration by emailing support@autofloat.co within 30 days of accepting these Terms. Claims may only be brought individually, not as part of a class action.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms. If we make a material change, we will notify you at least 30 days before it takes effect and ask you to accept the new Terms the next time you sign in. Changes do not apply to bills you confirmed before the change.
20. Governing law and contact
These Terms are governed by federal law and the laws of the state where you live. Questions about these Terms can be sent to support@autofloat.co.
